Let me tell you a story about John.
John is currently training for this third Dan black belt in karate.
Many years ago five friends including John showed up for their first martial arts class.
In the early days, they all did well and loved training, and took one grading after another.
But gradually each of them hit a plateau. A moment where they couldn’t seem to improve no matter what they did.
And within five years one after another they quit.
John didn’t.
He stayed in the game.
He has been training in this martial art for over 20 years now and he’s pretty incredible at what he does.
But 20 years ago John was no better than any of my other friends. In fact, looking back he cared less about the gradings than the others did which is probably a big part of his success.
If you want to be successful in life then get ready to stay in the game.
There will be times when nothing seems to work.
Stay in the game.
There will be times when everyone is saying no.
Stay in the game.
There will be times when you seem to make mistake after mistake.
Stay in the game.
I think it was Samuel Beckett that said…
Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter.
Try again. Fail again. Fail better.
Safety is the enemy of success.
Be proud of your mistakes.
Take a risk.
Fail spectacularly.
Then go out and fail some more
Have a great weekend 🙂
